Clik here to view.If you’re not familiar with Tucker Max, he achieved fame after publishing I Hope They Serve Beer in Hell, along with a few other related titles. These books are about shenanigans Tucker gets into, mostly revolving around sex and booze.
He really made a name for himself through his stories, but he’s now come out with a new book–one about ‘Becoming the Man Women Want.’
Although Tucker Max is a talented writer, and really changed the game a few years back with his outrageous books, this book won’t be on nearly the same level. This book has little hype, if any, and I only heard about it because James Altucher emailed it to me.
Sure, guys are always going to want to get laid, so of course there’s a market for his book. And he is a New York Times Bestselling Author, with 350k followers on Twitter—needless to say he has a large base to market to. Yet even taking all that into account, I doubt his book will sell, or is worth reading. Here’s a few reasons why:
It’s Been Done
Again, the subjects of sex and dating aren’t going anywhere, but there are already a plethora of books, articles, and websites devoted entirely to this subject. In fact, the PUA industry has been around since the turn of the century, and most big ‘Game’ blogs came to fruition more than several years ago.
What more could Tucker have to offer?
He and his partner, Geoffrey Miller seem to pushing the ‘evolutionary/biological’ aspects, but still, this isn’t anything groundbreaking.
His Fan Base Could Care Less
The book’s description says that to become the man woman want, a man must “become the best version of yourself possible, then show it off. It sounds simple, but it’s not.” Here’s the problem: Tucker’s fanboys have no interest in becoming the best version of themselves.
These men have no interest in self-improvement—rather they only wish to live vicariously through other men like Tucker which is why they loved his previous books so much.
Most guys who fawn over books like I Hope They Serve Beer in Hell, have never experienced much in the way of sex and partying. Men reading these stories are like fat chicks reading tacky romance novels—as a means to fantasize about what could have been.
A man like Tucker Max, who has sold over a million books, should have a loyal fan base willing to snatch up any product he puts out. But this isn’t the case because he pigeonholed himself into telling funny stories, and now that he’s trying to be serious well… no one is actually taking him seriously.
He Hasn’t Changed His Marketing

Notice Anything?
What I noticed immediately is that the two covers use the same exact format—in fact, all his books use the same format: A ‘Your Face Here’ photo.
In his previous books, Tucker put that on the girl’s face, implying how much of a stud he was. But now, he has turned the tables, and is putting the readers’ face where his face is.
This proves my point exactly.
Tucker is trying to again, get guys to buy into the ‘This could be you’ mentality. That would work for guys who have built their name on self-improvement, but for guys who have made their name on hedonistic debauchery, it will fail to attract any meaningful readers.
It also says he has reservations about branching out into new genres. Although he’s trying to reinvent himself, he’s still clinging to his past fame to try and sell copies of his latest book, instead of succeeding on merit.
He Has Defamed his “Peers”
I have reviewed books by the big names in this corner of the internet. For example, Gorilla Mindset by Mike Cernovich and Roosh V’s memoir.
And it just so happens, that Tucker Max has beef with both these guys. Roosh and Mike fought back using their respective media platforms (See Below). And I’m not here to fight any battles for anyone, but what I can say is that Tucker made a huge mistake by isolating some big names in the self-improvement, masculine, dating etc. industry. Had he instead appealed to these men in a genuine manner, he would have seen a lot more success by networking within this market and having access to their readers.
Wrap-Up
Most people say to never judge a book by it’s cover—well that’s bullshit. Tucker’s new book cover says it all. But I don’t even need a book cover to know that his book is not worth reading:
- The descriptions implies there is nothing new in this field
- He has attacked people who I enjoy reading and agree with for no apparent reason
- It’s just another marketing scheme
But I could be wrong. Maybe this will be a huge best-selling book, though I doubt it.
