Most of the books I read are applicable towards this website. They focus on topics such as masculinity, strength, wisdom, politics, travel, finance, culture and more. These are concepts that men can digest and subsequently apply to their lives.
But not every book I read falls squarely into this category. In fact, if I tried to do that I’d go crazy.
I think it’s important that you as an avid reader make an effort to diversify the books you read. Not only will these keep your mind fresh, but it will make you a more knowledgeable and well-rounded individual.
So, here are a few books I read in 2015 that won’t get a full write-up, but that you may enjoy anyway.

Yes, a book about severed heads.
I swear I don‘t have a secret fetish for murder and bloodlust. Rather, I was simply intrigued by the concept of this book that I had to give it a read. The author focuses on everything related to decapitation, the anthropological implications of studying skulls, head collecting and more.
It was certainly a fascinating read, and at times very disturbing. When the author went into detail at one point I actually got queasy—a first while reading a book.
Act of War by Brad Thor

My mom has tried to get me to ditch my non-fiction ways and convert to reading thrillers instead. I’ll pass—but thrillers are a lot of fun to read.
Act of War is about a Chinese plot to take down America. Farfetched—yes, boring—no.
Act of War takes readers across the globe on a quest to stop a terrible disaster from unfolding in America. It is a fast paced book that I was disappointed to finish.
Not to sound like a pretentious d-bag, but the writing was a bit sophomoric at times. Nonetheless, an enjoyable read.
The Emperor of All Maladies by Siddhartha Mukherjee

Cancer is so common today that when somebody gets it people just shrug their shoulders, as if to say ‘Big Whoop. Everybody get cancer nowadays.’ That’s quite a sad state of affairs.
There’s a good chance someone close to you had cancer. My mom did. She’s doing great now, but to be close to mortality is a frightening experience.
If the subject of cancer interests you, this is the definitive history of the subject. Interestingly enough the author writes this book as a biography, giving Cancer a human form.
Things That Matter by Charles Krauthammer

Charles Krauthammer is that grumpy guy that appears often on Fox News. Despite his demeanor, he is absolutely brilliant. Now, that does not mean I think his policy positions are all correct, but as someone who has studied at Oxford and Harvard he is clearly a bright man.
This really shows in his book. The writing is superb, and he doesn’t lower his level of writing down to meet the average American’s reading comprehension.
The book focuses on the things that really matter in life, hence the title. It chooses dozens of his op-eds and essays from over the years and fixes them into various subjects ranging from politics to the cosmos to Jews.
Grow or Die: The Good Guide to Survival Gardening by

If shit did it the proverbial fan, how would most people last more than a week without food? That’s not a pretty picture.
You should always be prepared for the worst, fortunately David the Good is here to help. He’ll walk you through gardening techniques in a basic manner, and tell you what you must do to be prepared.
As a pseudo-side note, gardening is actually pretty rewarding. If you have even a little bit of land, then you should start planting.
